Abstract
The article introduces voluntary sustainability standards (VSS) as a governance mechanism to promote green industrial restructuring. The paper first sketches the proliferation of VSS. Next, we turn toward the potential impact of VSS and their use worldwide by analyzing the dynamics of adoption of VSS globally. We demonstrate that VSS are mainly used in developed countries (high-income economies which score well on governance indicators).
