Abstract
Elena Mancusi-Materi looks at the impact of food aid on civil society reconstruction from a sustainable livelihoods perspective, with a special focus on social mobilization for community empowerment and democratization. She reviews the use of food aid for development with two illustrative case studies where food assistance has been granted in post-conflict situations.
