Abstract

The Women's Feature Service looks at the increasing scale of violence against women globally with case studies from around the world and two focused studies on The Philippines and China. The authors look at the rising incidence of sexual and physical abuse within the family environment among men chosen to protect the law and order, issues of violence against women in war and armed conflict and how the rapid transformation in Chinese society and economy in the past 20 years has failed to address the crime of domestic violence.
