Abstract
The Pensions Regulator, the new regulator of work-based pension schemes in the UK, has wider powers than its predecessor and a new proactive and risk-focused approach to regulation. This paper sets out its statutory objectives, describes how they will be achieved and comments on the principal aim of empowering pension scheme trustees.
