Abstract

A non-agglutinating lectin preparation, succinyl-con A, inhibits the growth of untransformed 3T3 mouse fibroblasts in a manner that mimics density-dependent growth inhibition. The growth inhibitory interaction between succinyl-con A and cells occurs exclusively during the mitotic and/or early G1 phase of the cell cycle.
