Abstract
An analysis of the redshift dependence of the rotation measures (RM) and of the intrinsic position angles of the polarised radiation of radio galaxies and QSOs is made. The results place an upper limit of 10 rad m−2 to the observed RM, coming from the contribution of the magnetic field in the intergalactic region.
