Abstract
Extreme interstellar reddening, accompanying visual absorption of order 100 magnitudes, is still a viable explanation for infrared objects like Becklin's star in spite of recent claims to the contrary. It is unnecessary at this stage to invoke a new phase of protostellar evolution to account for them.
