Abstract

Brundtland and Walløe1 have reported that the trend toward earlier maturation in children, as evidenced by age at menarche, has stopped, at least for the present. Using probit estimates in a status quo inquiry they gave the mean ages as 13.27 yr in 1952 and 13.24 in 1970. Both results were based on large samples of Oslo schoolgirls.
