Abstract
RECENT measurements of the oscillator strengths (f-values) of FeI lines have led to an increase in the figure for the solar abundance of iron by a factor ∼ 10 compared with that in the classical paper of Goldberg, Müller and Aller1. This has far reaching consequences for astrophysics and for the interpretation of abundances in meteorites.
