Control of Template Specificity of E. coli RNA Polymerase by a Phage-coded Protein

Abstract

The protein specified by the T7 phage gene I co-purifies with the RNA polymerase from phage infected E. coli. It also determines the fidelity of template strand selection during in vitro RNA synthesis with T7 DNA as template.
