Abstract
ADMINISTRATION of a single dose of many organophosphorus esters to hens and other species produces a delayed neurotoxic effect characterized by a flaccid paralysis of hind limbs developing after a symptomless period of 8–14 days (for a review see ref. 1). We have studied the effect produced by di-isopropyl phosphorofluoridate (DFP) because it is a potent neurotoxic compound and does not need to be metabolized to produce the active agent.
