Abstract

THERE are reports on the morphological evolution of lymphoid cells from adult mouse spleen fragments1 and suspensions2, and from newborn mouse thymus fragments maintained in vitro for up to 22 months3. Immunological activity has been studied in vitro for short periods4–13 up to 35 days14. The presence of antibodies in the medium for as long as 108 days was detected in cultures of spleen and lymph node fragments from rabbits immunized with bovine serum albumin (BSA)15.
