Abstract

THE number of characterized mutants of human haemoglobin is rapidly increasing. Most abnormal haemoglobins are completely harmless to the carriers, but some are associated with more or less severe haematological disorders, and these in particular are interesting from genetical, biochemical and physiological points of view.
