Calcific Heart Disease in New Zealand Brown Trout

Abstract

CERTAIN brown trout caught in fresh water streams and lakes on the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand were found to show very little fight and to be in poor physical condition. Local anglers refer to such fish as “slabs”.
