Isolation from Heart Valves of Glycopeptides which share Immunological Properties with Streptococcus haemolyticus Group A Polysaccharides

Abstract

THERE is evidence of immunological cross-reaction between structural glycoproteins extracted from human or bovine heart valves and parietal polysaccharides of haematolytic group A streptococci1,2. Further investigations have led to the isolation of dialysable glycopeptides, which produce the common antigenicity.
