Abstract
HUMAN erythrocytes are permeable to many substances such as catechol, p-phenylenediamine and sulphanilamide1. Knowledge about the entry of the catecholamines into erythrocytes was the objective of the present study. The technique used required incubation of freshly drawn heparinized human blood with a radioactive catecholamine for various periods of time. Ultrafiltration was used because of the poor recovery of unchanged epinephrine and norepinephrine during chemical deproteinization procedure in red cells.
