Abstract
MOST C-nitroso compounds in the crystalline state exist as colourless dimers, though the monomers, often formed by dissociation in solution, are green or blue1–3. Heating solutions of the nitroso compounds also shifts the equilibrium so that formation of monomers is enhanced.
