Abstract
ALTHOUGH a wide variety of electrophoretic enzyme variations has been reported in recent years1, we have as yet very little information on the polymorphism of proteinase. The properties of proteolytic enzymes of the digestive juice and midgut of the silkworm have been investigated by Horie et al.2, who confirmed that the proteinase activity in the digestive juice was markedly higher than that in midgut tissues, and the optimum pH of proteinase in the digestive juice was on the alkaline side (pH 11–11.5).
