Abstract

NUMEROUS investigations have shown that many plants exhibit optimum photosynthetic and respiratory rates at temperatures that are approximately equal to those of the growing season of their native habitat1. From an ecological point of view, however, adaptation in terms of metabolic patterns is very poorly understood2.
