Abstract

TIDAL rhythms in invertebrates have been known for some time1–4. Recently, Williams5 has described, by means of under-water observations, a tidal cycle of movement in Clinocottus analis (Girard) and Girella nigricans (Ayres). The tidally controlled movements of Leuresthes tenuis6–8 and Enchelyopus cimbrius (L.)9 are restricted entirely to breeding.
