Abstract
AN unexpectedly high blood glucose-level was found in rats which had been anæsthetized with ethyl urethane in the course of routine biochemical assays. The blood glucose-level of fasting rats rose from 58 ± 1 mg per cent (mean ± S.E.; n = 40) to 167.7 ± 7.6 mg per cent 1 h after intraperitoneal injection of 1.25 g/kg urethane.
