Abstract
THE mechanism of action of immune lymphocytes in transplantation immunity and other delayed-type immune responses is still obscure. It is almost generally assumed that these cells carry on the surface of their cytoplasm protein anti-determinant groups, that is to say, they behave as cells with fixed antibodies. We have suggested1 that the effect of immune lymphocytes is a particular case of their morphogenetic action and is not connected with the antibody-like structures of their cytoplasm.
