Abstract
ISOTOPE shifts in the infra-red have been reported for a number of compounds containing deuterium, nitrogen-15 and oxygen-18, for example, the work of Pinchas et al.1,2, but little has been published on carbon-13- or carbon-14-labelled compounds. George3 has examined the spectrum of 1-13C-propene-l, and Karabatsos4,5 some 13C-di-iso-propyl ketones and 2,2-dimethyl propionic acid; as regards carbon-14 compounds, only the spectra of carbon dioxide and barium carbonate appear to have been reported hitherto.
