Optical Rotatory Dispersion of Liver Alcohol Dehydrogenase and its Complexes

Abstract

WE have recently reported that the stability of liver alcohol dehydrogenase (LADH) towards denaturing agents, such as heat, hydrogen or hydroxyl ions, is greatly enhanced in the binary complexes with NADH* or NAD, and still more in the ternary complexes with coenzymes and inhibitors1. The reaction velocity of the free SH groups with PCMS was greatly reduced by complex formation, and the solubility of the enzyme in phosphate buffer increased considerably.
