Abstract

IN the course of earlier investigations1,2, rhythmical, high-amplitude 6–10-c/s waves were observed in the visual and auditory cortices of cats when they made responses reinforced by milk. Brief reference to similar cortical activity was previously made by Hess et al.3. A more systematic examination of the conditions under which these rhythmic waves appear has been made and is presented in this report.
