Transformation of Bovine Tissue Culture Cells by Bovine Papilloma Virus

Abstract

SEVERAL viruses of the papovavirus group, namely, polyoma, SV–40, and rabbit papilloma viruses, produce hereditable morphological alterations—‘transformation’ —of appropriate tissue culture cells1. We have found that another member of this group, the bovine papilloma virus, produces cellular alterations and proliferation in certain bovine tissue culture cells after a very short latent period.
