Abstract

PARNAS et al.1,2 obtained 14 samples of Brucella bacteriophage from old cultures of Brucella abortus and compared with these a Brucella phage originally isolated from manure in the U.S.S.R. The phages were described as being round, elementary bodies 60–80 mµ in diameter but with no tail. Cultures of Br. abortus were lysed by the phage, but cultures of Br. suis, Br. melitensis and a non-typical Br. abortus strains were not lysed. These observations have been confirmed by other workers3,4.
