Abstract
EVEN stationary blood remains liquid for hours in a healthy blood vessel. In a damaged vessel it clots quickly. The properties of intact vascular endothelium are difficult to study. Endothelial cells can be scraped off the lumenal surface of the aorta, for example, and some of their biological properties can be studied.
