Abstract

THE polyhydric alcohols or polyols are a group of carbohydrates important both biologically and industrially. Apart from laborious column techniques1, there is no satisfactory micro-method available for the resolution of mixtures of hexitols (sugar alcohols) by themselves or, in particular, in the presence of hexoses.
