Abstract

IT has been shown that the enzyme β-galactosidaso is inducible in Staphylococcus aureus if the organism is supplied with galactose and a mixture of amino-acids; enzyme formation in intact and disrupted cells is markedly stimulated by the presence of glucose and a mixture of purines and pyrimidines1,2.
