Abstract

THE well-known metal diffusion cell with slide constructed by Lamm1 has been used almost exclusively during the last ten years for accurate determinations of diffusion constants. However, as Lamm points out, it is difficult to tighten this cell in experiments with organic solvents; in such cases cylindrical diffusion tubes of glass are mostly used, making it difficult to take full advantage of the great accuracy obtained with the Lamm scale method.
