Radio-Sonde Recording of Potential Gradients

Abstract

THE radio-meteorograph developed by the Bureau of Standards1has been modified so as to transmit during its balloon ascent signals indicating the potential gradient in the free air. This gradient has already been investigated in connexion with thunderclouds by Simpson and Scrase using a somewhat limited method2.
