Abstract

SEVERAL attempts have been made in the past to synthesize an arsonium salt of type [R1 R2 R3 R4 As] X (where X represents a monovalent acid radical), and then to resolve the salt into optically active forms by virtue of the asymmetric arsenic atom it contains. The synthesis of such compounds is not difficult, but the separation of the racemic salt into optically stable dextro and lævo modifications has not hitherto been achieved.
