Abstract
WE have recently measured the attenuation of wireless waves of 160 m. wave-length from a low-power Hartley transmitter installed in our laboratory. Measurements of electric field-strengths for various distances in two definite directions up to a distance of 4,800 m. have been carried out and the results are shown in Fig. 1. The attenuation factor A has been taken as the ratio E.d./E0.d0, where E0 is the value of the field-strength at a distance d0, which is so near the transmitter that there is no perceptible ground absorption and E is the value of the field-strength at any longer distance d. This ratio has been plotted as a function of the distance.
