Abstract

JUST within the surrounding earthwork of Stonehenge there are two stones symmetrically placed with reference to each other on opposite sides of the centre. There are also two low earth heaps or mounds in corresponding complementary or reversed positions. A general description of these “Four Stations” was given by me in NATURE for April 1, 1922 (vol. 109, p. 410), with a plan (reproduced herewith, Fig. 1) drawn to scale and photographs of the stones.
