Abstract

French researchers have found that Gram-positive bacteria can assimilate fatty acids directly from the host, potentially compromising the efficacy of antimicrobials that inhibit fatty acid biosynthesis. Companies developing inhibitors of the pathway want to see more evidence that the results are applicable to all Gram-positive bacteria.
