Accounting for Additional Factors Affecting the Bearing Capacity of Sandy Beds Supporting Centrally Loaded Shallow Foundations

Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering Aims and scope

Abstract

An attempt is made to refine an engineering method of determining the limiting pressure on sandy beds of shallow foundations. Additional factors affecting P u have been accounted for sufficiently correctly and successfully, and included in the same algorithm, presenting the computational results in a form that is convenient and customary for practical utilization. First results of comparison between computed and experimental p u values suggest their rather good correspondence.
