Abstract
The tangential component of the leakage field on the surface of an elastically bent long pipe is calculated in the approximation of the uniform internal magnetic field. The tangential component turns out to be more informative than the normal component since, as distinct from the latter, it enables us to determine points at which the flexible stresses coincide with the mean value of the internal stresses of the first kind.
