Acid-Base Properties of Some Penicillins

Abstract

The acidity constants of benzylpenicillin, carbenicillin, and ampicillin were determined by pH-metric titration at 20°C and an ionic strength of 0.1 M (KCl). Diagrams of distribution of ionic and molecular forms of these compounds vs. pH were calculated.
