Abstract
The influence of conditions of alkaline activation on xanthation of pine wood with mechanochemical preactivation was studied. It was shown that the duration of alkaline preactivation and the amount of sodium hydroxide exert a decisive effect on the degree of conversion of wood. The resulting macromolecular compounds are soluble in aqueous alkaline solutions and form viscous solutions.
