Abstract
Results of over forty-years work on the circulation method of thermochemical treatment are summarized. Theoretical aspects of the method are discussed. Results of thermodynamic simulation of three- and four-component systems with chlorine, a schematic diagram of a circulation installation, and a general view of a commercial circulation installation for ion nitriding of parts are presented. The circulation methods of aluminizing, carburizing, and nitriding are briefly analyzed.
