Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Abstract

Mechanical properties of steel 12Kh18N10T (rolled sheets) and its welded joints are studied by testing smooth and notched specimens for tensile strength in liquid helium at 2.4 K using a test bench based on the UMÉ-10TM machine with a special low-temperature attachment. Fracture surfaces are studied and the properties of steel 12Kh18N10T are compared at 2.4 and 4.2 K.
