Abstract
The behavior of dissolved pentavalent plutonium in the presence of hydrous plutonium oxides has recently been described in terms of Pitzer parameters. The observations can be explained by a conventional approach. The alternative perspective does not use the irreversible oxygen/water couple and it is easier to understand than virial expansions and Pitzer coefficients.
