Abstract
The synthesis and the results of an X-ray structure analysis of S-(5,6-dinitro-2-benzimidazolyl)methylthiuronium chloride are reported. It is found that the nitrogen atom of the amidine fragment in the benzimidazolylmethylthiuronium cation is protonated. The mutual arrangement of the benzimidazolylmethylthiuronium cation and the chloride anion in the unit cell is described.
