Chemical Etching of CdSb Single Crystals: Thermodynamic Analysis

Abstract

Thermodynamic calculations are used to construct the Pourbaix diagram describing the redox processes in the CdSb–H2O system. Based on this diagram, the etching behavior of CdSb in acidic and alkaline media is analyzed. An etchant is formulated for chemomechanical polishing of CdSb substrates. The etchant contains modified SiO2, hydrogen peroxide, glycerol, ethanolamine, and sodium hydroxide and ensures reproducible preparation of high-quality surfaces.
