Abstract

Postmortem data on the weights of the hearts of 884 patients (523 males and 361 females) with cardiovascular diseases have been analyzed in parallel with their body weights. The heart weight–to–body weight ratios have been compared in different groups of patients. Exponential equations describing the dependence of the heart weight on the body weight have been obtained for 18 groups of cardiovascular diseases, separately for males and females.
