Abstract

The influence of various factors (laser power, optical path length, and signal level) on the accuracy and precision of thermal-lens measurements is studied. A general equation for the instrumental error of thermal-lens measurements is deduced. It is shown that the results of thermal-lens experiments for subnanogram concentrations of test compounds are in good agreement with the known equations of the theory of thermooptical spectroscopy.
