Processing the Results of Measurements by Approximating the Distribution Density with Smoothing Cubic B-Splines

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Abstract

A method is developed for processing the results of measurements from a small sample utilizing the apparatus of normalized smoothing cubic B-splines. The choice of the spline mesh spacing providing a solution of the smoothing problem with a specified accuracy is justified. Analytical expressions are obtained for the probability distribution density and the numerical characteristics of the measurement results.
