Unitarity of Scattering Matrix for Quantum Multilayer Systems

Abstract

Proof of the unitarity of the electron scattering matrix for solid-state multilayer systems is presented. Conditions that provide the unitarity of the scattering matrix are analyzed. On this basis, a computational procedure for reflection and transmission coefficients in quantum multilayer systems is developed.
