Abstract
The degree of long-range order in a strained alloy of the Cu3Pd composition is studied by X-ray diffraction. Plastic strain is found to give rise to a disordered phase and reduce the size of antiphase domains of the ordered phase. The antiphase-boundary contributions to a decline in the long-range order parameter are estimated. Nonuniformity of the strain-induced order–disorder phase transition is revealed. The effect is attributed to localization of the deformation process.
